The Green Brier Distillery is well-known for its award-winning spirits. Originally established in 1860, the company went bankrupt and then revived to become a whiskey distiller once again.

Located at Marathon Village central to downtown Nashville, they are open seven days per week for tastings or shopping.

The story of Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery, located 1414 Clinton St, Nashville, TN 37203-2806, begins on the high seas. A German passenger ship bound for America in 1850 was carrying a large number of slaves-turned-immigrants–including James Pepper and his wife Annisia.

This unlikely couple would go on to found what many consider to be the oldest bourbon distillery still operating today.

If you want a personalized experience, then come to Green Brier Distillery. They have an intimate space where they allow up to 10 people at one time for tastings- never more!

You’ll be able to sample many of their unique flavors and get the most out of your visit with them as opposed to being in some large tasting room or waiting online with hundreds of other visitors.

The only catch is that children under 12 are not allowed due to this limited capacity; however, they can sit nearby while parents enjoy their tasters and learn about how every flavor was created from Moonshine mash like “God’s Gift” using natural ingredients sourced locally like pear syrup, vanilla beans grown by neighbors just down the road.

From curb to bottle, Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery is a delightfully casual experience. You can park on the street or in their paved parking lot across from them and enjoy it all – distilling your gin with one of their knowledgeable staff members before sipping away at cocktails made by some of Nashville’s finest mixologists who have graced these hallowed halls.

It’s easy to understand how Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey was the largest selling brand of Tennessee whiskey in the world. Records show it was sold throughout America and Europe, as well as parts of Asia during prohibition when other distilleries were shut down.
